To monitor your employees over the Internet (e.g. when they are working from home) you need to use a Cloud Connection.

Desktop recording files are saved on the monitored computer in the \\dr subfolder under Agent installation folder.

Net Monitor for Employees Pro can be used in a GDPR-compliant way, but GDPR compliance depends on how the employer or organization configures and uses the software. The organization using the software decides the lawful basis for monitoring, writes the required privacy notices, defines retention rules, and controls access to collected data.
Net Monitor for Employees Pro is an on-premises employee monitoring and collaboration tool. After installation, monitoring data is processed inside the organization's own computers and the monitoring console. EduIQ does not automatically receive or access the organization's monitoring data. In this setup, the customer organization remains responsible for its own data and normally acts as the data controller.
The Agent installed on employee computers can transmit monitoring information directly to the Net Monitor for Employees Pro Console through an encrypted application protocol. The console displays this information to authorized users. Live monitoring does not automatically mean long-term storage, but some features can be enabled to store records for later review.
Data can be stored both on the console computer and on the monitored computer when recording, logging, reporting, or file collection features are enabled. Console data is stored in C:\ProgramData\Net Monitor for Employees Pro\data. Agent data is stored in the Agent installation folder, with the default location C:\Program Files (x86)\Net Monitor for Employees Pro.
The product can process or store computer name and logon name automatically. Optional features can process or store screen captures, accessed URLs and page titles, audio captures, keyboard captures, running application and process information, copied files, installed application information, WLAN profiles, Outlook profiles, and computer user account information.
Some captured information can contain personal data or sensitive information. Screen capture, audio capture, keyboard capture, file capture, and profile data should be treated carefully because they may include private or sensitive content. The organization should document what is collected, why it is collected, who can access it, how long it is kept, and how it is deleted.
For GDPR transparency, employees and other affected users should be clearly informed when monitoring is used. The privacy notice or acceptable use policy should explain what monitoring can happen, why monitoring is needed, when monitoring is active, what data may be stored, who can access the data, and how long the data is kept.
GDPR data subject rights must be handled by the customer organization. This includes the right to be informed, right of access, right to rectification, right to erasure, right to restrict processing, right to data portability where applicable, right to object, and rights related to automated decision making. Net Monitor for Employees Pro does not make automated decisions or create automated profiling decisions by itself.
The software can support these obligations operationally because stored records are kept in the customer environment and can be reviewed, exported, restricted, or deleted by the organization according to its own policy. If monitoring should be paused for a specific computer, the organization can exclude that computer from monitoring or disable selected logging and recording features.
Consent is not always the correct legal basis for employee monitoring. The correct lawful basis must be decided by the employer, data protection officer, or legal adviser. Depending on the situation, the basis may relate to legitimate interests, public task, contract, legal obligations, productivity, security, safeguarding, compliance, or investigation needs. This should be documented before monitoring is used.
The GDPR document also explains that the provider is not normally the data controller or data processor for monitoring data when the product is installed on-premises and data remains inside the customer environment. The customer organization controls the monitoring purpose, configuration, access, retention, and deletion.

Troubleshooting
The problem is usually caused by firewall or antivirus software.
Windows automatically installs and enables firewall.
Make sure that port TCP 4495 is open on employee PCs firewall.
You can try to temporary disable a firewall on employee PC to see if this solves the connectivity problem.
Note that you may have more firewalls installed. Some antivirus software automatically install the firewall. In this case you have to open port on all firewalls.
If you are still facing problems try to use IP instead of hostname when adding employee PC to the console.
The "Not authenticated" status (a lock sign) indicates that the password entered during agent installation is not the same as the password used when adding the employee PC in the console.
We suggest that you choose Properties in the console (for specific employee PC - click right mouse button) and enter the password again.
You can also check the agent's passwords by opening agent configuration utility using your password.
If you forgot your agent's password, please uninstall the agent using our installation package and install it again.
Sometimes problem appears because of the console's configuration file corruption. In such case you will have to delete the following folder (and add PCs again):
C:\ProgramData\Net Monitor for Employees Pro\users
Please note that folder C:\ProgramData is hidden. You need to type it into Windows Explorer.
Our software does not open any secret doors or anything similar - it just allows you to monitor other PCs and this is enough for antivirus and antispyware software production companies to flag it as dangerous.
The only way to avoid this is to put our software on exclusion list.
